Introduction
Böehm Construction Ltd. is a Nanaimo custom home builder working at the high end of the market, building homes in the two-million-dollar-and-up range. At that level, a client is not really choosing a house. They are deciding whether to trust a builder with two years of their lives and a very large budget. Böehm came to us with strong work and a website that, like most builders in the category, opened with galleries of finished homes. The problem was that the website was answering a different question than the one clients were actually arriving with.
Project Overview
Objective:
To align Böehm's website and brand messaging with how high-end clients actually evaluate a builder, and then rebuild the site around that, so qualified enquiries convert into signed contracts at a higher rate.
Our Approach
The Diagnostic: Before touching the website, we ran Böehm's client-facing communications through our NeuroBrandLab Signal diagnostic. The reading was clear. In almost every first meeting, clients surfaced the same three questions: what is your process, how much does it cost, and how long does it take. No client opened by asking to see the gallery, yet the website led with homes. The messaging did not match the mental model a client brings to a custom build, which is whether these people can be trusted to hold budget, hold schedule, and guide them through decisions they have never had to make before. The full diagnostic and scoring are documented in the NeuroBrandLab case study.
Strategic Sequencing: With the read in hand, we changed the order. Process moved to the front of every client conversation: a visible, sequenced map of the decisions a client makes across roughly eighteen months, in the order they make them, with the budget and timeline consequences of each. Homes moved later, repositioned as proof that the process works rather than as the opening argument. Nothing changed about how Böehm builds or what it charges. What changed was the order in which the work is explained to the people paying for it.
Website Development: Once the conversation shifted in person, the old website architecture no longer matched the firm. We rebuilt the homepage around the three questions clients already arrive with, in the order they arrive. Process first, cost second, timeline third. Cost and timeline both trace back to the process because, in a custom build, they are outputs of the process rather than separate promises. Homes moved into later sections, where they read as evidence that the first three answers are real.
Brand and SEO: We carried the same principle through the brand presentation and on-page SEO, optimizing for the language clients actually use when they search and ensuring the site ranks for relevant terms while staying consistent with the repositioned messaging.
Results
Our approach delivered a measurable shift in the metric that matters most:
Higher Conversion: Conversion from qualified enquiry to signed contract rose 35% in the two quarters following the sequencing change. None of the new business came from a different kind of client or home. It came from the same leads, answered in a different order.
Clearer Positioning: When asked why they chose Böehm over other builders they were considering, clients gave back a consistent answer: Böehm was the one who explained how the project would work before showing what it would look like.
A Website That Matches the Conversation: The rebuilt site reflects how the firm now engages clients in person, with process as the anchor and the portfolio as proof.
Conclusion
The win here was not a new website on its own. It was diagnosing what clients were actually asking, reordering the conversation to answer it, and then rebuilding the website to match. The diagnosis came from NeuroBrandLab. The rebuild came from FuseHub. Böehm did not change how it builds homes. It changed the order in which it explained the work, resulting in a 35% lift in conversion.
